Beat Poets Laureate

Meet and read about our Beat Poets Laureate by clicking on each section: (Lifetime), (National US), (International), (US States).

National Beat Poetry Foundation’s Beat Poet Laureates are chosen by an anonymous group of people worldwide that contact us through email, messenger, and through other social media outlets to give me their recommendations as to who they feel will best represent our new generation of Beat Poets in a respectful manner. Past and present Beat Laureates also lend their recommendations as well. All chosen Beat Laureates are expected to acknowledge the National Beat Poetry Foundation, Inc. when being interviewed by the media. By spreading the word of your involvement, and by attending events, you are helping the organization grow. After gathering information on potential candidates over a period of time, they then each report their findings to me. The information sent is discussed with my advisors as well as my active past and present Beat Poets Laureate. Each candidate is given careful consideration. I then do my own research and choose a few new Beat Poets as laureates each year, while keeping a growing list of potential future candidates. All final decisions are made by me, Debbie Tosun Kilday and my advisors.

How Beat Poet Laureates are Chosen & How to Make Recommendations:

Beat Poet Laureates are chosen through recommendations that are submitted by email to NBPF15@GMAIL.COM. An anonymous committee of 7 people reviews and then votes on their choices, given the information received. The committee then forwards their findings to Debbie Tosun Kilday, owner, who then, after doing her own research and compiling the information received, then makes the final decisions based on several different factors. In order to be considered to be a Beat Poet Laureate, you must show interest in our group and social media pages. It helps to show interest and to attend our events, held both online and in person. Submitting your work to our beat anthologies is also a way to be seen and your work read.
