Jack Freedman, aka Jacob R. Moses, 2024-Present – has been a poet and spoken word artist since 2002, and has had 200+ poems published throughout 18 countries. He holds an MA in English and Creative Writing with a concentration in Poetry from Southern New Hampshire University. He offers a workshop called Unlock Your Poet-ential. It’s a workshop with prompts that are meant to aid in self-discovery. In conjunction with his Masters, he has a certificate in Creative Arts Therapy from The New School. He has conducted workshops throughout his hometown of Staten Island, NY. In relation to the program, topics explored are friendships, landmarks, and prized possessions. Exercises allow poets to dig deeper into their subconsciouses. Activities attempt to connect the visual to the aural, to the written, to the kinesthetic. Chris Bodor – 2023 – Present – President of Ancient City Poets chapter of the Florida State Poets Association. Since August of 2009, Ancient City Poets have gathered on the last Sunday of each month in St. Augustine to celebrate creative writing and reciting. In 2022, Bodor launched St. Augustine PoetFest, St Johns County’s official observation of National Poetry Month (April). The weekend kicks off with a Beat Poet Summit on Thursday nightfeaturing ten minutes of podium time awarded to all past and present Beat Poet Laureates who get “On the Road ” like Kerouac, and travel to the Sunshine State. The festival continues during the day on Friday and Saturday with author discussions, seminars, and a keynote presentation at the historic downtown campus of Flagler College. On Friday evening, the English Department hosts an off campus open mic and the weekend concludes on Saturday afternoon with an awards ceremony for the winners of the St. Johns Cultural Council Haiku Contest, followed by a reception.
